Eastbrook Hall’s developer receives an industry accolade
Aldersgate Estates has won a prestigious industry award after the meticulous restoration of a landmark building in Bradford.
Eastbrook Hall won the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) award for restoration at this year’s award ceremony. The LABC awards celebrated the achievements of projects in Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield after the building control surveyors from each council nominated builders who have accomplished high levels of workmanship.
The iconic residential development fought off tough competition from The Grand Theatre in Leeds and Somerset House in Halifax to win the award for high standards of construction.
Located in Little Germany, the city centre’s premier residential area, the fire ravaged historic building has been transformed into 73 apartments, providing a living opportunity with character in the heart of Bradford. The development also offers 750 sq ft of high quality commercial space.
Tony Marsh, Director of Aldersgate Estates, developers of the project said: “We are delighted to receive this award. It’s a testimony to everybody that worked on the development, as it highlights their quality workmanship, which is a great achievement.
“Eastbrook Hall is one of Bradford’s most distinctive buildings. The development incorporates intricately restored key period features, such as the original external Edwardian façade and the stained glass windows, alongside modern city centre living, offering a unique residential opportunity.”
The four year £12m restoration project has now been selected to enter the national LABC awards to compete against key developments throughout the UK in October 2009. This latest award follows further industry acclaim as Eastbrook Hall was also shortlisted for the Pro-Yorkshire RICS awards in the regeneration category earlier this year.
