Latest plans for New Victoria Place unveiled

The latest plans for the iconic New Victoria Place scheme have been showcased at a public exhibition at the Great Victoria Hotel in Bradford.

Developers Langtree Artisan and Yorkshire Forward have been working intensely with English Heritage and Bradford Centre Regeneration while taking onboard comments made by the public during and since the consultation in October 2008 to evolve the scheme.

New Victoria Place, which has English Heritage support, is now placed to become a landmark development that delivers more than 1,350 permanent and temporary jobs in Bradford.

Trevor Mitchell, Yorkshire and Humber Planning and Development Regional Director at English Heritage, commented: “The revised proposal respects the setting of adjacent listed buildings and provides new buildings of an appropriate quality, in a sympathetic landscaped setting, safeguarding the overall character of the city centre conservation area.”

Simon Peters from Langtree Artisan, said: “We have created a vibrant and ambitious scheme for current and future generation of Bradfordians, which will deliver much needed jobs to the city.”

The vision, created by architect careyjones, will deliver work and leisure space for Bradford residents and visitors, including prime Grade A office space combined with vibrant city centre accommodation, a 100-bed hotel, bars, cafes and community leisure facilities all centred around a vibrant public realm.

A website with the exhibition materials has been launched, for further information please visit www.newvictoriaplace.com.
