Bradford’s digital industry picks up Pace
As the digital revolution continues, the market for high tech products is growing rapidly, and one leading digital TV technologies developer has taken advantage of this demand from its Saltaire base.
Pace has reported significant success as global demand for its digital TV technologies for the pay-TV industry has increased. Pace reported strong performance thanks to a strategy of organic growth and tactical acquisition. The £63m purchase of Philips’ set top box division makes Pace the third largest manufacturer of these devices in the world.
The group which makes devices for BSkyB, Canal plus and Comcast Corps, shipped 13 million boxes last year. It has over 100 customers and ships to over 50 per cent of the top 20 pay-TV companies.
Neil Gaydon, Chief Executive Officer, Pace Plc, said: “Our focus on having the right products, at the right time, to fuel the digital TV revolution has delivered excellent results and we will continue to grow market share.
“We’ve been based in the Bradford District for 27 years – it has everything we need: a talented and committed workforce, a beautiful location to live and a vibrant and innovative electronic sector. We do business and have people all around the world, but our headquarters is here and it is from this hub that we draw our drive.”
