Following
its last board meeting, Bradford Centre Regeneration (BCR) confirmed that after
six years of successfully putting in place a clear strategy of attracting
private sector investment, the time is right to move to the next phase of
delivery for the regeneration of the city.
The
delivery of BCR’s key regeneration projects will be transferred to Bradford
Metropolitan District Council from 1 January 2010 and the company will aim to
cease operation with effect from 31 March 2010.
Since
2003, BCR partners have contributed a total of £36m towards enabling
regeneration in the city centre, which has facilitated and resulted in; £180m
private sector investment in property development; £340m private sector
commercial property transactions; £484m of private sector property development
has commenced and schemes totalling a further £711m of investment have secured
planning permission.
