NEW GROUP FORMS TO BE THE ‘VOICE’ OF BRADFORD’S CITY CENTRE

A new independent community group will be launched at an event this week at the Midland Hotel to give Bradford city centre residents the opportunity to discuss and influence key issues that impact their living environment.

Bradford City Centre Residents Association (BCCRA), the first city-based group of its kind in the UK, will bring residents together to talk about key public realm improvements, regeneration developments, issues such as crime and security, and local facilities and amenities.

BCCRA aims to create a sense of community in the city centre, and hopes to benefit from the diverse cultural heritage that Bradford offers. The launch event will welcome a range of city centre residents, local businesses and key neighbourhood and community organisations on 2nd April, 7pm for 7.30pm.

Dave West lives and works in Bradford city centre and has been elected as chair of BCCRA. He said: “This is a great opportunity for city centre residents to come together to influence the development of their living environment. There are a range of residents in the city centre, including young professionals and students. We feel that their views need to be heard to positively influence the city centre’s regeneration.

“We aim to forge and maintain mutually beneficial links in our monthly meetings with organisations throughout the city, such as Bradford Council, local businesses and the police – hence our claim – your city, your voice.”
