NATIONAL LEASING LAUNCH FOR WESTFIELD BRADFORD
Westfield today launches its national leasing campaign for Westfield Bradford at an event taking
place in the city. The launch will showcase the £320 million project to some of the UK’s leading
retailers and agents.
The scheme is currently in excess of 50% leased by area and retailers already committed include
Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, Next, Topshop/Topman, Evans, Wallis, Dorothy Perkins, Burton,
Miss Selfridge, River Island and Beaverbrooks.
David Slade, Director of Leasing, said: “We wanted to present the scheme to the wider audience
and encourage retailers and agents to visit Bradford to experience first hand the opportunity that
exists here. There is a huge under-supply of quality retail in the city - with a future market
potential of more than £1 billion this is an exciting prospect for any retailer and, with more than
half of the scheme’s area either exchanged or in solicitors hands, retailers are starting to realise
that this one of the best regional city centre opportunities in the current market.”
Bradford Council''s Executive Member for Regeneration and Economy, Councillor Adrian Naylor,
said: "It is very encouraging to see such good progress being made on the development, which is
one of the key schemes in the city centre regeneration masterplan.
"Bradford has a very diverse workforce and a growing economy, which investors are recognising.
This can be seen in the number of major national businesses who have already signed-up to be
part of the scheme and Westfield is continuing to work hard to secure more retailers.
"Westfield has already invested significantly into the scheme and the leasing launch event is the
next step in the development in terms of attracting more investment and also giving local
businesses the opportunity to see first hand how to get involved."
Significant preparatory works and pre-construction activities have been carried out on and off-site
in preparation for the expedient commencement of the construction, once the pre-letting
programme has been met.
Westfield Bradford will create 54,600 sq m of retail with more than 100 shops and an 800 seat
foodcourt, plus homes and offices with 1,750 car parking spaces and excellent pedestrian and
public transport links to the rest of the city and beyond. It is estimated that more than 4,000 jobs
will be created throughout the construction phase and upon completion.
