INVESTING IN A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR BRADFORD

Leading Manchester-based Mi7 developments has outlined a £150 million vision to transform its Listerhills sustainable student village into the hub of academic, medical and business excellence.

The Listerhills scheme will focus around an iconic sustainable student village which will deliver carbon-neutral living for 1000 students with an extra 80 apartments for post graduate, mature, overseas students and lecturers. The benchmark project will set a precedent of the highest quality for future sustainable student development on a national and international scale.

The revolutionary development fulfils the environmental aspirations of the city’s university and college to develop a more sustainable future for Bradford. It also highlights the long term partnership between the two institutions and the landmark scheme.

In conjunction with Yorkshire Forward, the new Business Innovations Centre will inject new business into the city with 20,000 sq ft of serviced offices for business starter units, offering further entrepreneurial opportunities for Bradford residents and graduates.

New Medical and Dental Institutes will bring an extensive range of specialists services to Bradford with further academic facilities to place the city on the map as a dental school of excellence.  The development will include a medical health centre which will accommodate up to six GPs and will provide walk-in assessments, a diagnostic centre and other health care facilities whilst the dental institute will offer both private and NHS services.

A 4-star 130 bed hotel will reside within the landmark Listerhill Tower and will provide restaurant, bar, conference and leisure facilities, adding another dimension to the development and bringing more jobs into the area.

Mohammed Ishtiaq at Mi7, said: “The collective development synergises a range of sectors, including education, research and development, commercial, residential and healthcare that will help build Bradford’s economic future. It has been designed to nurture each sector from an academic, University start right through to developing  professional careers and new business opportunities.

The scheme is being developed by Mi7 with significant support from Middle Eastern institutional investor Projenco Al Khaleej, and will complement the current regeneration of Bradford’s Learning Quarter and the overall £3bn renaissance within the city.

Clive Wilson, Director of Estates at the University of Bradford, said: “The Listerhills sustainable student village will have a huge impact on the University and the academic sector in Bradford as a whole, bringing superior residential, leisure and learning facilities to the city.

“This development will provide an environment where students can learn about a sustainable development by actually living in one.”

Councillor Andrew Mallinson, Executive Member for Regeneration for Bradford Metropolitan District Council, said: “The Listerhills development is one of the landmark schemes within the city’s innovative Learning Quarter. The overall £750 million scheme will create a thriving ecological and academic neighbourhood in the west of the city centre surrounding the university and college, and the Mi7 development plays a key role in this.”
