Artists interpretation of the Park At The Heart Artists interpretation of Westfiled OUR VISION

The Valley

Covering the west of the city, The Valley is set to boast Britain’s first city centre science park, a European style tree-lined boulevard, urban squares and water-side locations.

To realise the vision that is The Valley, there will be sixteen individual and imaginative schemes, four each in the themes of:

Urban Living – 21st Century residential schemes blending new landmark high rise     developments with warehouse conversions

Creativity and Knowledge – centres of excellence reviving the area’s reputation     as an engine of growth

Living Landscapes – maintaining the human scale and green connection of the     redevelopment

Quality Streets – smoothing traffic flow while introducing Continental style tree-    lined boulevards

Major projects within The Valley:

  • Listergate – situated on the vacant former Gasworks site at the junction of Thornton Road and    Listerhills Road, landmark residential buildings rising up to 25 storeys will share prime space with    Bradford Science Park, which will maximse the commercially valuable skills provided by the University
  • Beckside Park – a contemporary public open space alongside Bradford Beck which will connect a series of green spaces to create a safe and attractive linear park and a natural link between the University campus and the wider Valley Neighbourhood.
  • Goitside Urban Village – the development of a significant residential community to the west of the city centre alongside designated space for creative businesses and artists and public squares, ultimately generating the pleasant and animated environment this area so desires.
  •  Sunbridge Road –the transformation of Sunbridge Road into an exciting and dynamic high street, with widened tree-lined pavements allowing cafes and shops to animate and enhance the environment, and narrowed carriageways to reduce the impact of traffic.
